February saw an important milestone achieved, with council approval of the Structural Building Consent. The structural engineers are now developing construction drawings for the main contractor.
An update for you on wider building consent: this is a complex process, but progressing well. On February 18th we provided clarification on four minor queries received from Council, and the design team now eagerly await councils’ final response. Once approved, the apartment plans will be consented to enable further progression of construction drawing sets.
Throughout the month of February, the project manager and main contractor have also been working on procurement for the construction phase of the development. The construction plan will be lodged in the first week of April for review. Once that's accepted, the construction contract will be signed, and works can then start.
Finally, and as previously confirmed - soft demolition (all non-structural elements of the building) has been completed.
At this stage we are still awaiting the approval of our resource consent by Council which is delaying us satisfying our vendor conditions (consents and feasibility). We are working closely with Council to push this process along to enable all conditions to be confirmed.
The Avalon team are looking forward to getting construction underway.
